RBT BANK @ 50 in the service to the community
RBT Bank had just celebrated its golden years anniversary last March 10, 2016. A series of activities were set to commemorate the bank’s founding anniversary to boost its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
As it’s kick-off activity, employees of Main Office and Head Office rolled up their sleeves and brought their sacks as they clean up the shoreline of Talisayan Boulevard. Bottles, plastics and other waste materials were gathered and collected leaving the area clean. The said activity was headed by the Vice President himself, Mr. Cesar G. Magallanes. It was also actively participated by the Director, Mr. Emmanuel B. Liuson.
Next activity was the Tree Planting in coordination with the Talisayan Municipal Agrarian Officer who recommended the area. There were 200 mangrove seedlings planted at the coastal area at Tagbocboc, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental. The main objective of this project was to help the community, aside from the environmental protection, it will also add up to their source of income. Since it harbors shrimps and crabs which the fishermen can sell to earn money from these. Another activity was the TABO, it was a 2-day agro fair sponsored by RBT Bank. Farmers from the nearby barangays were invited to display and market their products and goods and promote the local products of Talisayan. There were vegetables, sweet potato, cassava, tomatoes, singkamas, buko and other pastries displayed and were sold.
After which was the feeding program at Barangay San Jose, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental. There were 100 selected kids invited for a Jolly Party, hosted by Jollibee Gingoog Branch Staff. Some of the kids was first time to met Jollibee. There were games and prizes given to the winners. It was so heartwarming to see the happiness and smile in every child who had really enjoyed the party.
Then on 12 March 2016, marks the highlight of RBT Bank 50th celebration. It was started with a Thanksgiving Prayer where employees of Main and Head Office gathered together to worship. The Preacher was Dir. Alonzo T. Chiong who focused his meditation on the Man of God who was instrumental in the development of the community through RBT Bank referring to Col. Alejandro Go Beltran, the Chairman Emeritus of this bank. Members of the Board of Directors were also present headed by the Chairman, Mr. Christopher C. Beltran with his lovely better half Ma’am Yvonne P. Beltran; the Vice Chairman, Mr. Jonathan C. Beltran; the President & CEO, Mr. Wilner A. Palacios, the Vice President, Mr. Cesar G. Magallanes and Mr. Emmanuel B. Liuson, member of the Board.
The thanksgiving worship was assisted by our spiritual partners Pastor Demetrio “Jun” Tubat Jr, Minister of GCAF Talisayan and Pastor Arlene Pahayag, Minister of UCCP Talisayan. It was indeed a joyous celebration for at the closing part, the Chairman announced a good news that made everyone rejoiced to the fullest.
It was then followed by a dedication ceremony of the Casa Beltran, the ancestral house of the Beltran Family. It is one of the historic house in the town of Talisayan. It has some antique items displayed in different parts of the house and some bullet marks in the walls, for it was used as hide out of the Japanese Soldiers during World War II. There were also some creepy stories foretold about the house just to scare the children and for them not to wander in the night.
Motorcade then followed from Talisayan to Balingoan to Mandahilag at the boundary of Talisayan and Medina then back to Talisayan. In the afternoon was the 50th Stockholder’s Meeting held at Talisayan Gymnasium. On the following day, 13 March 2016 were the fitness activities. It was started with a Fun Run of 3 kilometers for male participants and 2.4 kilometers for female participants. Mr. Rico Sumastre and company facilitated the fun run as well as the basketball and volleyball games.
The entire celebration was so rewarding, hearing some praises and positive feedback from our bosses pays off all the efforts in the preparation despite some minor glitches.
Medical/Dental Check-up
RBT Bank, Inc. in coordination with the Golden City Alliance Fellowship Cagayan De Oro and 4k MBA sponsored a half-day
medical and dental check up last March 20, 2016 at Talisayan Gymnasium. There were more than 200 clients and constituents of Talisayan and nearby towns who joined and availed of the free services and medicines. Some of the services were medical check-up, tooth extraction, free eyeglasses and these were rendered by prominent doctors from Cagayan de Oro City. Patients were given spiritual guidance before they were checked by the doctors. Because we believed that to achieve complete healing of our physical illness, we need also spiritual healing.
MANOLO-OBO Opening
RBT Bank opened its new Other Banking Office (OBO) located at Unit 4 Colex Building Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon last June 28, 2012. The newly opened office is under the operation of RBT Bank – Jasaan Branch.
It started with the cutting of ribbon and blessing officiated by Rev. Fr. Pablo Salengua followed by a short program hosted by Ms. Daisy Gaabucayan, RBT Bank-BDO. The Branch Manager, Ms. Rezile O. Calusa welcomed everyone who witnessed the event and affirmed that this is a “dream come true” for RBT Bank to open an office at Manolo Fortich.
Officers and staff were installed by the President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Wilner A. Palacios who also delivered his inspirational message. He also shared how stable and profitable RBT Bank is. He believed that by opening this office, RBT Bank can easily serve our clients here and believing that Manolo is one of the progressive municipality in the province of Bukidnon.
The bank’s products and services were also presented thru a powerpoint presentation for the information of the clientele who attended the celebration.Board of Directors Mr. Emmanuel B. Liuson and Mr. Alonzo T. Chiong delivered an inspiring messages, encouraging each employee to be a good leader not only in the community we serve but also to our own families.
Mr. Marvin R. Yonson, Loan Supervisor gave his closing message after the newly installed officers and staff break the dance floor. The program was ended with a dinner shared by our guest and valued clients especially teachers who also witnessed the celebration.
Medical Mission @ Claveria
The MFU Section of Jasaan Branch initiated a Medical Mission last June 22, 2012 to cater the health needs of our microfinance clients at Claveria, Misamis Oriental.
It was facilitated by Dr. Johannes Salcedo and Dr. Cresen Duhaylungsod. There were 150 clients served during the medical mission with their children.
A week after, positive feedback were received by the branch. Clients were satisfied of the services rendered for they received enough medicines and they were checked up properly.
RBT Continues in Uplifting Client’s Lives
True to its mission to uplift the lives of the clients who are mostly the marginalized women in the community, RBT Bank continues to provide them livelihood trainings in order to augment their meager income. Last February 9, 2012, several women underwent a chiffon and cassava cake baking in TESDA-Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental through RBT Livelihood Training Officer Leoreme Pamisa in coordination with TESDA Training Officer Lucia L. Actub, the trainor taught them on the proper procedure to produce a good quality cake that will compete in the market. She added that presence of mind is very important in doing these things. According to Mrs. Jean Suazo, “Dako kaayo kini nga pribilihiyo nga makatambong susama niining training nga gipanguluhan sa RBT. Pinaagi niini nahatagan kami ug dugang ideya kung unsaon aron madugangan pa namo ang among income. Hope sa sunod makakat-on pa kami sa lain pang mga training. Thanks to RBT.”
Mrs. Gloria Hinacay added, “Kini nga training naghatag kanamo sa courage ug dugang pagpaningkamot aron among makab-ot ang among mga pangandoy. Salamat RBT sa training nga inyong gehatag kanamo kay nakat-unan namo kung unsaon aron makahimo pa ug laing mga negosyo in the future “.
RBT Bank is very supportive not only in financial aspects but also in boosting the well being of its clients.
Livelihood Trainings to MF Clients
The RBT Bank, Inc. is not only concerned in extending financial assistance to its clients but also educating them on how to earn additional income for the family.
Therefore, the Training Department of RBT Bank in coordination with the National Livelihood Development Corporation (NLDC) and Techinical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continued to conduct livelihood trainings for all microfinance clients of the bank.
Most of the trainings conducted are on Cake Baking (Cassava, Carrot & Chiffon Cakes), Binangkal & Cunchinta Making and on Meat Processing (Tocino and Longganisa).
Aside from livelihood trainings, the bank’s training officer Ms. Leoreme B. Pamisa also conducted training on Generate Your Business Ideas (GYB) and Start Your Business Ideas (SYB). In this training, the participants were taught on how to improve their existing businesses, and develop business ideas that can be a source of their additional income. Participants were also given an opportunity to assess their entrepreneurial skills.
